About East Tennessee Martial Arts School

Kang
Nick Portillo

Instead of Teacher or Guru, I prefer to use the Indonesian term Kang (meaning brother).  In Silat, as well as all martial arts, we are family.  I do not consider myself a high-level teacher.  I have a comprehensive martial arts background that I have developed over the past 20+ years.  My goal is to share what I know and help others develop their own path.  I hope what I share makes my teachers proud and I hope it encourages others to experience the beautiful cultures of both Indonesia and the Phillipines.
